Homemaking Overview!

Welcome to week one! This week is mostly about gaining direction. Where do you want to go? What is important to you in your home? For me, this week is about laying foundations. I want to develop habits that will help me instead of hindering me. I currently work part time, so my habits are essential to the flow of my day. If I can build habits that help me, I'll be able to accomplish so much more than I would otherwise.  Most units will be about four weeks, but a few, such as unit one, will be only two or three. I designed unit one to be especially brief because I want to use it to develop great habits but not to overwhelm anyone, myself included!
Here are a few of the units I hope to embark on in the following year:
Unit One: Foundations of Great Housekeeping!

Unit Two: What's for dinner? Cooking skills
Unit Three: Home Finance or Frugality is Fun!
Unit Four: Sew what?! Basic Home Sewing for Beginners
Unit Five: Home for the Holidays
Unit Six:  Mrs. Fix it! Home Repairs Everyone Should Know
I'm not sure what else we'll cover but posts will generally be classified by their unit title so as I find more or if you are just browsing through the blog, you can find what you're looking for quickly!

Welcome!

I am not at all an expert on homemaking. I hope, though, to learn enough skills that I can make a home that is comfortable and clean. I want to learn to run my home in a manner that is frugal and orderly, making the most of my resources and my time. I believe that homemaking is a valid, worthwhile, career for women that should not be dismissed as silly and trite. I hope, through the course of the next year, to develop unit lessons for myself and anyone else who chooses to read this blog that will be entertaining, relevant and not overwhelming. This site isn't about being perfect, it's about progress. I hope to learn from you in return through your comments and posts. Here's to a wonderful year!
